A Good Day

Today was a good day. I laid around until 10 am watching QVC beauty products for starters. Then Paige and I met two of my girlfriends for lunch. We sat at the table and talked for nearly 3 hours! It was so much fun! Later, we took Frank to shop for a laptop for his birthday, then ate at Sylvia's. Paige and I split an order of chicken alfredo...yummm! After we got home, I made a cheese ring and some cranberry coconut bars for a reception at church tomorrow. I made these bars at Christmas and they were sooooooooooo good! Here is the recipe (cuz I know everybody is dying for a recipe):

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips or white vanilla chips
1 1/2 cups dried cranberries
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup pecan halves
DIRECTIONS
Combine cracker crumbs and butter; press into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. In a bowl, combine the remaining ingredients; mix well. Gently spread over crust. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-28 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

And last, and certainly not least, I ended my good day laying in bed watching Gilmore Girls with my husband. :o)

Welcome to the (Funny) Farm!

We have been looking for some kind of ground cover to plant up against our house out by the garage for weeks. We needed something that could handle both sun and a lot of moisture. Today, Frank decided to plant some tomato plants in that spot. Not ground cover exactly, but interesting nonetheless. We went to Walmart to get the plants and ended up with the makings of a garden(ette). We got 3 tomato plants, and cages, a green, a yellow, and an orange bell pepper plant, and two cucumber plants. We also got a black plastic iron-like fence to keep the dogs out. Oh, and a hoe...the garden kind ;o) As soon as we got home, Frank planted his little garden(ette) and put up the black plastic iron-like fence. Who knew he had aspirations to be a farmer...but then again, he WAS in FFA in high school and he HAS been to the Sunbelt Expo in Moultrie.

Grillin' and Chillin'

Today was a beautiful Saturday and we had a very nice night. Frank grilled chicken and corn on the cob and Vidalia onions, and I made a salad. The food was delicious, but the company was even better! Rick Wedgeworth was our guest! He looks great, and it was so good to have him over. His sense of smell and taste have been affected by his treatments, but he said that he could taste dinner and it was delicious. (I hope he wasn't just being nice.) The five of us ate two whole chickens, 8 ears of corn, two onions, and a whole bag of salad. The only thing we had left over was the other veggies I had for the salad. So it must have been good!

Frank has the pool looking great, and we are putting salt in it, swapping it over from chlorine. We went back for more salt today, but both Lowe's and Walmart are out. The kids have been swimming twice, and Jacob said its cooooolllllld. I'll just take their word for it.

That is all I know to say after today's Dr appt in ATL. He said he was "very pleased" with Paige's leg and that it is much better than would be expected after an injury like hers. She is free to do normal kid stuff now (which she has been doing for quite a while already). We don't have to go back for 6 months and she has graduated from physical therapy. When we go back in October, they will do an xray to check on things and to keep an eye on the growth plate. AND, I had a $30 credit, so I didn't even have to pay for today's visit!

After the dr appt, we went to SuperTarget, while the boys went to the golf store. Paige got two new bathing suits and I got 2 dresses and 2 shirts from the clearance racks. Traffic was horrible leaving, and it took us over 2 hours to get from Alpharetta to Conyers. It got much better when we finally got on 20, and I was glad to finally get home.

Tomorrow is Friday! I'm getting my hair done, so the next time you see me, I'll be all beautified.

Funny Things Second Graders Say

In my days as a second grade teacher, I have heard some mighty funny things (and often times shocking) come out of their mouths, but today might take the cake!

One of my mild mannered little girls told someone from another class....

"Girl, I'm gonna snatch that weave out yo head!"

Priceless! I can not make these things up! Someday, when I write my book of all the crazy things that have happened in second grade over the years, that just might be my title. And you better buy my book, because if you don't...well....see above!

Paige

We took Paige to the dr for a check up today. She is as healthy as a horse. Her bloodwork was all good; he saw no problems. She is in the 75th to 90th percentile for height and he estimates that she could be 5'7" when she is all grown up...depending on when she goes through puberty. PUBERTY?! WE AREN'T READY FOR THAT!!! She is growing up way too fast...will be in the double digits in July. These are the pictures I took of her Valentine's Dance Party...sorry it took me so long to post. We go back to the knee dr Thursday...and we sure don't miss that leg brace!

Happy Easter!

Here are some pictures of our Easter...It was a nice, relaxing day. I hope yours was too!This is the sweet tea pot and cup that I brought home from Mama's.
Here is the table all set with my precious "china" from Hobby Lobby. We had pork loin, Paula Deen's potato casserole, corn on the cob, and a light and yummy strawberry pie.

This is Paige's Easter basket. She had a hot date today...she went to see the Hannah Montana movie, just her and her daddy. In her basket, she got flip flops, a pool towel, and a journal.

Here's Jake's Easter "basket". Since almost teenaged boys are not into Easter baskets, I got him an Easter bucket...so he can wash the cars for us! His basket, I mean bucket, included nerf war stuff plus all the regular goodies.

Frank went looking for the Easter bunny at Uncle Remus, and although he didn't find him, he did shoot a 47 on 9 holes, which is apparently a big deal for him.

Today was a beautiful day, a day that the Lord has made. Thank you God for this day and for sending your Son to take my place on the cross. May this day, and every day, be a reminder of your grace.
